Fed: Microscft wants less tax for innovation

CANBERRA, Jan 16 AAP - Computer software giant Microsoft wants tax breaks and more
commonwealth spending on research as part of the government's innovation statement.

Microsoft Australia (MA) today released a white paper it had sent to government MPs
ahead of Prime Minister John Howard's innovation statement expected on January 29.

Apart from tax breaks, MA managing director Paul Houghton said there needed to be tighter
intellectual property laws, the development of IT centres of excellence and a reduction
