Fed: Mansfield resignation could be a positive move, says Latham

Opposition leader MARK LATHAM says Telstra chairman BOB MANSFIELD's resignation is
a positive move if it means core services will receive more emphasis.

Mr LATHAM has told reporters that under Mr MANSFIELD the prospect of Telstra becoming
a mega-media company has distracted it from its core responsibilities.

He says Telstra chief executive ZIGGY SWITKOWSKI'S future is a matter for the company's board.

Mr LATHAM has also reaffirmed Labor's belief that Telstra should remain a majority
public owned company and board ructions have no bearing on that stance.
